Maru was created to blur the line between residential warmth and healthcare durability. Research shows people are drawn to rounded forms for their safety and softness. Maru brings that insight into spaces that support connection, ease, and healing. Its thoughtful proportions, adaptable style, and replaceable components make it a lasting solution across industries.
Maru’s rounded form may look soft, but its performance is anything but. Beneath its sculptural shape lies healthcare-grade durability, complete with replaceable components and clean-out options. It’s designed to embrace visually and physically, without compromising on resilience, longevity, or functionality.

Chris Carter brings more than three decades of industrial design experience to Maru, blending sculptural simplicity with everyday comfort. Inspired by an abstract sculpture he created to evoke feelings of protection, calm, and connection, Carter designed Maru to feel inviting both visually and physically. The result is a lounge collection rooted in softness, human experience, and lasting performance.
“The inspiration for Maru came from a sculpture shaped around comfort, softness, and the feeling of being held.”
